About

Have you ever gone to a cat shelter and noticed that there’s always some cats who have a hard time getting adopted? You know, the old ones, the sickly ones, or the just plain cranky and mean ones?

This comic is about those cats.

They live at Calico Coffee, a cat cafe full of well-clawed furniture, yummy pastries, and strong tea and coffee. There they try to charm the customers, hoping that someone will overlook their (usually dreadful) flaws and take them home.

Meet the team

Brooks Peck, writer

As a curator at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, Brooks has created exhibitions on topics as diverse as space-themed record album covers, Battlestar Galactica, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, and Avatar among others. His most recent show is Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds. He co-wrote two creature features for the Syfy Channel: Rage of the Yeti and Zombie Apocalypse. His short story “With Folded RAM” recently appeared in the magazine Asimov’s Science Fiction.

Brooks is looking for a quiet and predictable home with no other curators.

Margaret Chiavetta, writer

Margaret Chiavetta graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics from the University of Washington Bothell in 2014. She is the author of the new kids fantasy novel, Sir Duffy’s Promise, the first book of The Alchemist’s Theorem series. Chiavetta’s work has received positive accolades from media sites like MuggleNet.com, the #1 Harry Potter fan site, and Kirkus Reviews. Chiavetta holds a BA in Anthropology from the University at Buffalo and spent several years working with monkeys and learning about the human condition. Currently, she is working on The Alchemist’s Theorem’s second novel, Mendel’s Inheritance, and as a freelance editor.

Margaret requires lots of attention, but on her own, unpredictable terms.

Beth Morrell, artist, Issue 1

Beth graduated from Western Washington University with a BFA in painting, then continued on to receive an MFA in Digital Art from DigiPen Institute of Technology. While there, she art directed the award winning 2D video game “Flickers”. Her love of comics started when she would sneak in to her brother’s room to read his “Excalibur” comics, and was further heightened upon discovering the wide range of web comics out there. She now lives in LA where she is living the dream working on very cool projects with very cool people.

Autumn Haynes, colors issue 1, art and colors issue 2

Autumn woke up one day in the green fields of rural southwestern Virginia and followed a calling to study art at VCUarts—where she made off with a degree in Communication Arts and a curse from the temple guardian. A lover of comics and mysterious whimsy, Autumn can most often be found gardening or drawing. She is inspired by the weird and wonderful hidden in the mundane.
